Soul Art Day 2014
The purpose of creativity is opening my heart to the whispers that are wanting to be expressed – Suzie
I have just completed a wonderful journey in exploring my own creativity. Last week I took part in Laura Hollick’s International Soul Art Day, something I have done in 2012 and 2013
I allow my art and my creativity to flow through listening to the whispers of my heart. When I am in this flows , when I am in my headland I am blocked. This comes through for me in my art and my words.
I often paint as my morning meditation before I sit in stillness and draw an oracle card and a crystal, then mediate and journal.
This year I was prepared, I had a large piece of carbolite ( came from our patio roof being replaced and is made of polycarbonate) to paint on, quite different from my smaller heart whisper paintings on paper and sometimes canvas.
I had drawn the Heart Chakra oracle card and this became more relevant for me throughout the Soul Art journey. The message on the card:
Love is the heart of the matter. Your heart is the center within your physical being attuned most to love. It is safe for you to love and be loved with an open heart, as we stand by with perfect protection and guidance.”
This years soul art journey was different from last year in that it asked you to start with your business, asking
How can art support your business? How can you use art as a bridge to your business?” –
The following are a few quotes I took from the live hangout that introduced this year’s Soul Art journey
” A level of consciousness brings awareness and can bring magic” -Amanda Aitkin
” Our Unique art is our own creativeness” – Tracey Lee Jones
” Soul art is giving vision to the things we can’t see” – Laura Hollick
“Business is a work of art’ – Jennifer Lee
” Embrace the mystery, be in the flow” – Flora Bowley
” What is the creative juice that wants to flow through me?” CLICK TO TWEET
I started the process with the somewhat scary intention : Guide me to seeing myself as a $10,000 a month person. This had come from the initial exercises and also doing the Radical Income Welcome process.
I have a post-it on my computer screen that reminds me of this. I must now now remember to have it in my vision more regularly. 🙂
This years Soul Art journey has been both awakening and empowering. I have inspired myself too and it was fun.
My Creative Process
I started by getting Des to trace around my body, although now I know that I was focussing on my heart. I used that as my starting point with the words freedom, wealth, health, spirituality, creativity, abundance written over and around my body outline.
As I started to paint I lost my creative juice, so I turned the board over and allowed my heart to guide me. I was quite surprised at what emerged – the first take on the left I think very strong and bold.
The middle image I first added texture to the heart which I forgot to photograph, then I was called to add a spiral and more color.
Two days later after meditating in front of the art the spiral became more prominent and I added hearts, hearts and more hearts.
From my meditation I was guided to turn what I has seen as wise owl eyes in the first painting into my wise eyes, then came the chakra hearts, with the throat chakra off centre.
Insight and Reflection.
After the creative work is complete there are written processes to see what insights have arisen from this journey and what spirited action you will take.
My first insight was that the first stage of painting was all I needed to do and that in this painting as in life I have to add complexity, this has in the past stopped me moving forward. I let that sit for a day and came back and sat with my art and these words flowed onto the paper:
You are strong, creative and free, accepting and loving you and me. The world is waiting, you must share your gifts. You are surrounded by so much love, embrace it NOW and step into your power. It is time for you to shine!”
Then: The complexity of your process has shown you a way to move forward simply.
Other people had seen different things in that first painting.
What I saw as the wise owl eyes, someone saw as boobs,. I then shared the first painting with my friend Heather the day I painted it and this is what she wrote:
At first I saw a vibrant goddess, bursting with love and joy and creativity. Then I saw her chakras spinning and creating a powerful force of energy. I could feel the energy and I had am overwhelming desire. To see your picture in the flesh. I do believe that your art is healing and therapeutic Suzie. I think when people look at your art, it has the power to move them, inspire them and heal them. I love to meditate on your pictures, they bring me powerful messages of love. I’d love to see you painting more big canvases, the bigger the better. The space lets you free your inner messages and gifts to the world.
My mastermind friend Loralee wrote:: “because we’ve been on this topic recently, I’m also seeing a very clear sales funnel, full of heart and watched intently by those gorgeous eyes…not sure if that resonates? Yes it did resonate- my heart has so much more wisdom than my head!
Today I have shared this with Ellie while we were skyping and what she saw blew me away: Take 1: Dripping Sadness Take 2- Mix up whirlwind, sadness is dissipating Take 3- Coming into being, a spiralling of love, of life, of happiness, alive and enlightened.
What I am taking away from this wonderful journey is:
My art reflected that when I listen to and allow my heart to guide me, success will come. It’s time to make the shift and live more fully in my heartland, letting the controlling headland have a holiday. Plus truly be receiving of love right into my very core. Hence the title of my art: I am open to receive love.
This was a huge awakening for me and responded to my intention to be guided to seeing myself and my business as having a $10,000 a month income.
I have made a written commitment on my spirit action that by May 31st I will have a live Red Bubble store and have my first Heart Whisper product ready by June 14th. (My dad’s birthday ) This will be a very focused few weeks. Exciting YES and scary too. Then again my word for 2014 was courage!
Thank you Laura Hollick and all the partners for this process, the hangouts were a wonderful way to start and Tracey thanks for the meditation and the altar.

Hi Suzie,
I am so interested to read about your creative process – it’s sounds very elaborate and beautiful. I’d like to so something more like that.
I love the picture, love how everyone has a different interpretation and love that you’re following through and putting products on Red Bubble. You’re creativite juices are flowing and you’re in business-building action mode too.
Hi Annabel and welcome,
Thank you your comments delight me, I hadn’t thought of the process as elaborate, well not to me. it was great to get others interpretations and sometimes I can limit Me!
Yes the creative juices are flowing although got hampered last week by getting an eye infection- interesting.
Look forward to getting to know you ♡♡♡
Beautiful creation! Thanks so much for sharing! I recently stated to a friend that “I’m just not creative”. She replied that I may not feel “artistic” but that by creating new programs and offerings – I am creative. I appreciated her input . . . and hopefully this “creativity” will bleed into something “artistic”!
Oh Lisa, yes your friend is right- we are all creative, we just have to learn to listen to our heart whispers to untap our creativity which presents to us in many ways.
Your comments inspire me to think about brining my untap ypu creativity course back to life
Thank you ♡♡♡
Thanks Suzie, I love your energy and your creativity. Lately we have been putting more if our creativity into the work that we are doing, especially our videos and it really feels great!
Thanks Lisa Yes focusing on our creativity makes us feel good, Congrats
Oh I do love your energy Suzie! Thank you so much for sharing your inspirational process and beautiful art with us. Redbubble was new to me but I followed your link and now I’m really excited to see you achieve your goal – and there’s no doubt in my mind you will!
Hi Marty,
thank you. I have chosen Red bubble after a conversation with Nathalie and can see my hearts on those cushions , etc.
I may choose somewhere else for the card and prints. Do you have any recommendations
BTW this was a very powerful experience, especially when i allowed the art yo speak to me.

Hello Suzie,
For me creativity is where the heart intersects with the mind(brain). At any given point one may be more dominant than the other, but the energy, wisdom and intention that is generated by the two is where I am able to create something that is meaningful and enduring.
Do I connect creativity to my business? Yes. Although, my business is not me and I am not my business. All of what I do in my business is a direct extension of who I am – my heart, mind and soul. – Thanks for this thoughtful writing. -Peace & Blessings, Phyllis
Phyllis thank you for your definition of what creativity is for you, I relate to that too and the reminder that “All of what I do in my business is a direct extension of who I am – my heart, mind and soul. ”
The closer we move towards being that extension the more aligned we are with our souls.
Namaste

What an amazing process, Suzie. Love is at the core of who you are and the core of your work so I’m not surprised. My creativity feels so different, flowing in words but I definitely agree it’s about getting out of the headland and into the heartland! I wish you an exciting and fulfilling time ahead.
Yes Sandra it was an amazing process, I surprised myself . I understand about your creativity, you have such a gift with words. Thank you for this :”Love is at the core of who you are and the core of your work” funny how we don’t always see as clearly about poursels as other do
