This was the prompt for Day 8 of #reverb10: Beautifully Different.
Think about what makes you different and what you do that lights people up. Reflect on all the things that make you different – you’ll find they’re what make you beautiful. (Author: Karen Walrond)
When I saw the prompt for December 8 ( yes I am running a couple of days behind) I smiled and thought:It’s okay to think and act differently. I then remembered from my teenage years these words frequently being said to me my my mother:”Anything to be different”
Being and acting in a different way is for me what makes one special and when you accept and understand this you stop comparing yourself to others. You stop wondering why and accept your own uniqueness.
So what make me beautifully different?
This is when I wish I had kept a swipe file of what people have said I do and be. Here are a few I have kept from my twitter faves.
- I know I inspire people on a daily basis and I love this tweet I received from Liz Strauss: You most certainly are one of the most amazing people I know. Thank you. Thank you for being so much a part of all of this. Everything you do is inspiring.
- My BHAGS inspire others to challenge themselves and make a difference to their lives and mine. From, my friend Jenny Mannion: as my dear friend Suzie Cheel from Abundance Highway introduced me to – set some “Big Hairy Audacious Goals (BHAG).” Thank you Suzie for your inspiration.
- I know I walk a different path, i am not a conformer and love to do things in my own way, this lights my life and others too.

Suzie,
I was born different and never had a chance to fit in which is a good thing;) You are one of the most inspiring people I know online. Thanks for your support!

Hi Tess,
Somehow I missed your comment and then I went away and was very slack and not online.
You make my heart sing and I am looking forward to connecting with you in 2011, maybe we will meet too- on my agenda
Being born different is something I think is a blessing. I think I have been doing a bit of trying to fit in and comparing myself to others and it is not working or making my heart sing.
with love and gratitude
Suzie
I do know that I walk a different path from many of my own friends. A few confessed to me that they cannot seem to follow what I am doing. Neither can they imagine themselves doing the same. I choose to follow my own guidance. Oh yes, I realize that I am unique because of the different choices I make every day. We share much of the same thoughts

I understand exactly what you are saying about people not following what you are doing. I know that following my own guidance is so important, when i am looking outside and comparing myself i often fall over. Yes we do share many similar paths along with the same birthday
Hi Suzie! I am also different. I had always felt odd in my skin, because I don’t view ordinary things the way others do. I hadn’t really felt comfortable with myself until I realized that it’s ok to be me. My philosophy: If you don’t like me, what I say or do…then you know where the door is. I won’t conform to please anyone, but me. I am outspoken and at times, I say what everyone else is thinking. It’s just that I had the audacity to speak it. Yes it is true I have to audit myself every now and then, but I am truthful. This is a quality very few can handle. Keep inspiring, and I will keep listening, as your poetry is so beautiful! I quite enjoy your writing!
Thanks for listening : )
